I would like to know how many years the patient records of patient who participate on Exercise Referral Schemes are kept for? and what justification / guidance has shaped the decision of schemes for these time scales?

You need to speak to your governance people in your own pct, they provide guidance and policy on record keeping which includes how long you keep your patient records. Regards

We usually keep them for 6 years – following NHS guidelines I think, I just followed the same procedure for the cardiac rehab scheme:
Hope this helps

We keep paper records for 5 years as this is our organisation's policy. I'm not sure of the exact reasoning but would imagine it is for auditing purposes and possible insurance claims. Hope this helps Regards Zoe Denton Senior Active Living Officer visit www.wlct.org/activeliving
