We are currently looking to do an audit of health provision and health needs across Wigan based on where our participants are coming from, how active they are etc, and wondered if any other authorities or areas had already undertaken a similar piece of work. In particular we would be interested to hear whether any other areas have had success in capturing this information from partners such as the non-sporting voluntary sector or private sector? We already have much of the data in place from the Leisure Trust programmes but not necessarily from other partners

Any help much appreciated, please give me a shout if more information needed

Best wishes

I work for NHS Bolton and manage a Physical Activity Programme for over 45's, Get Active. We target those living in the most deprived areas of Bolton. This programme started in 2007 and part of the set up was to conduct a Consultation within the 11 areas we cover ascross Bolton. The aim of the Consultation was to Establish Activity Levels and Barriers to participation in exercise". It was prepared and co-ordinated by the Consultation and Reserach team within Bolton Council. The Field work was done by Bolton at Home and we reached 400 households in each of the 11 areas.

Jeff,
Sorry I'm not too much help regarding your request, but it is an issue we have been looking into relating to our boroughwide re:fresh health & well being scheme.
We lots of information from our own data base & have recently under taken a club audit of 650+ sports clubs, but engaging / auditing community / private health / fitness activities is not something we have yet tackled.
Be really interested to hear of others who have done - so would welcome you forwarding any info if approp & to see how you develop your proposal to take this forward.

Thanks
